A 21-year-old man is set to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Monday, facing multiple charges after he was found with the body of a woman in a stolen vehicle. The shocking discovery was made early Saturday morning at a petrol station in Moreleta Park, Tshwane.
The suspect, who was arrested on Friday, August 23, was also found in possession of items believed to have been stolen from the victim. According to Provincial police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo, preliminary investigations suggest that the victim was killed during a house robbery in Standerton, Mpumalanga, on Friday evening.
The investigation revealed that the suspect and possibly others ransacked the victim’s home before killing her. They then placed her body in her Range Rover and drove to Tshwane. The vehicle was later traced to the petrol station by an official from a tracking company.
Upon locating the car, the official alerted authorities. A search of the vehicle and the suspect revealed the woman’s body inside, along with several stolen items, including laptops, cellphones, jewelry, and the victim’s bank cards. Additionally, two firearms and a replica firearm were found in the car.
Police responded swiftly to the scene, arresting the suspect on the spot. He now faces a litany of charges, including murder, kidnapping, possession of unlicensed firearms, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, and possession of suspected stolen property.
Lieutenant Colonel Masondo confirmed that the suspect is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, August 26, where he will face these serious charges. The investigation into the incident is ongoing as authorities work to determine if others were involved in the crime.
This incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting the continued risks of violent crime in the region. The discovery of the woman’s body in such a tragic and senseless manner has left many in the area deeply disturbed.
