Telkom has announced a remarkable turnaround in its financial performance, reporting a 298.9% increase in annual profit to R7.5 billion for the year ending 31 March 2025. This significant growth follows a challenging period marked by a R9.97 billion loss in the previous year . The company attributes this success to strategic initiatives, including the sale of its tower business, Swiftnet, for R6.5 billion, which bolstered its cash position .
Revenue for the year grew by 3.1% to R44.57 billion, driven by a 10.2% increase in mobile service revenue and a 10% rise in fibre-related data revenue. Adjusted EBITDA surged by 58.7% to R15.94 billion, reflecting improved operational efficiency and cost optimization efforts .
In a significant move, Telkom has resumed dividend payments after a five-year suspension. The board declared a final ordinary dividend of 163 cents per share and a special dividend of 98 cents per share, totaling 261 cents per share for the fiscal year. This decision returns R1.3 billion to shareholders and marks a return to shareholder value distribution .
Looking ahead, Telkom aims to maintain a strong balance sheet, optimize EBITDA margins between 25% and 27%, and achieve mid-single-digit annual revenue growth. The company also plans to allocate capital expenditure strategically, targeting 12% to 15% of revenue, to support sustainable growth and navigate economic uncertainties .
